The Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 63-45 win over Santa Rita on Thursday. Santa Cruz Valley's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Santa Cruz Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ezekiel Perez led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Harris, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 20 rebounds.
Santa Cruz Valley's victory ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4. As for Santa Rita, their loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Cruz Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against BASIS Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. BASIS Phoenix comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
