Delta hasn't had much luck against Monroe Central recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Delta Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Monroe Central Golden Bears at 7:30 p.m. Delta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.
Last Saturday, Delta was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to Shelbyville. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Golden Bears 24-19 in the first quarter.

Despite their defeat, Delta saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Griffyn Knight, who posted 24 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, was perhaps the best of all. Knight has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 20 times she's played. Jillian Barr was another key player, going 6 for 12 on her way to 16 points and six boards.
Even though they lost, Delta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Monroe Central entered their game against Union County on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Monroe Central received a blow as they fell 52-37 to Union County.
Delta will have to contain Addy Puckett as she made an impact in Monroe Central's last game. She dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Monroe Central's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6. As for Delta, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Delta has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Monroe Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
