The Southwestern Randolph Cougars fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 55-44 win over Uwharrie Charter on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Southwestern Randolph, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Nathan Ellis, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Julian Mosley, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Southwestern Randolph's victory ended a nine-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12. As for Uwharrie Charter, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwestern Randolph will square off against North Moore at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully North Moore focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday. Uwharrie Charter on the road again on Friday and play against Providence Grove at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Providence Grove is ranked 439th, while Uwharrie Charter is ranked 454th).
