The Mineral County Serpents can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with a 27-20 victory over Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage. The victory was just what Mineral County needed coming off of a 67-23 loss in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mineral County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caitlynn Sanchez, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and six steals. Sanchez is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Taiylor Sanchez, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Mineral County's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12. As for Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mineral County will square off against the Lakers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pyramid Lake presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Serpents in Nevada (the Lakers are ranked 15th, while the Serpents are ranked 98th). Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st.
