The Leonard Lancers's four-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They skirted past Lake Worth 36-34. The victory was just what Leonard needed coming off of a 53-19 defeat in their prior contest.
Leonard found their leader in underclassman Euterria Davis, who scored 25 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least a third of Leonard's points.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexandra Reiman, who scored ten points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reiman has scored all season. Christina Bell was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Lake Worth were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Leonard's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Lake Worth, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leonard won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Palm Beach Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Palm Beach Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Leonard in Florida (Palm Beach Central is ranked 159th, while Leonard is ranked 491st). As for Lake Worth, Lake Worth and Wellington will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wellington is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
