Baseball Recap: Rudder's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Huntsville, Rudder was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Liberal Arts & Science Academy - Austin Raptors as Rudder made off with an 11-3 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Rangers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Jose Ponce made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Rudder is 7-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5-2 otherwise. Ponce was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Jayden Gonzalez tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Aiden Gray, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Juan Marquez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Rudder picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 11-6-2. As for Liberal Arts & Science Academy - Austin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rudder will head out to take on Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Liberal Arts & Science Academy - Austin, they will square off against Pflugerville Connally at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberal Arts & Science Academy - Austin is facing Pflugerville Connally at the right time seeing as Pflugerville Connally is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
