The High Island Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 90-35 loss at the hands of Leggett. High Island was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-10.
High Island's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maxx Stinchfield, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Drake Albanese, who scored 11 points.
Leading Leggett to victory were Joshua Perkins and Jace Railey. Perkins scored 27 points, while Railey scored 30 points. Perkins is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of William Lawson, who scored ten points.
High Island has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. As for Leggett, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 22-7.
High Island will be playing at home against Spurger at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Leggett, they will head out on the road to challenge Goodrich at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Leggett is coming into the game with 11 straight victories on the road, so Goodrich is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
