For the second straight game, Monterey will face off against Jackson County. The Wildcats will welcome the Blue Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Monterey's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Jackson County has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
On Thursday, Monterey made easy work of Jackson County and carried off an 18-1 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Alexandrea Novak was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with six RBI. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Monterey let Kaylin Shepherd and Haylee Trevathan run wild. Shepherd got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI, while Trevathan went 2-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four stolen bases gave Shepherd a new career-high. Makayla Bowman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Monterey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson County only posted a batting average of .211.
Monterey is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Jackson County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
Jackson County's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Monterey has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game.
