The Waverly Tigers will challenge the South Webster Jeeps at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Waverly is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Minford 20-7 on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Tigers with their most commanding win of the season.
Lexi Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one RBI.

04/11/25 vs McClain | 2 |
04/01/25 @ Southeastern | 2 |
03/29/25 vs Clay | 1 |
In other batting news, Whitley Brown was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Jo Colley was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.
Waverly always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while South Webster put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Oak Hill. The Jeeps were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Oaks. The Jeeps might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.
Like Waverly, South Webster also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaiden White. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. White was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Lauren Kaltenbach was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Makayla Raynard, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
South Webster pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Waverly, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Waverly has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like South Webster struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Waverly took their win against South Webster when the teams last played on April 2nd by a conclusive 15-6 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Jeeps have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
