AAAA Region V recap Oct. 23, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lexington, who took down 93rd ranked Aiken, 57-32. Will Hunter threw for 158 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 20 yards in the win.
North Augusta extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region V this week by beating South Aiken, 42-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
The Wildcats' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Grayson Chumley chipped in 85 yards. Keelo Norris helped Lexington's passing attack out by catching three balls for 38 yards.
Altyree Walker was the best wideout in the league this week as Lexington bested the Fighting Green Hornets. Walker racked up two receptions for 81 yards.
Lexington's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hunter has thrown for 1553 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Walker has 26 catches for 492 yards. Chumley leads the league in rushing with 788 yards.
A big matchup in AAAA Region V this week will be when North Augusta takes on Aiken. At the moment, Dan Pippen's team is in first, while Carey Johnson's team is in fifth.
The Yellowjackets were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting the Thoroughbreds. North Augusta came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
