The Hempstead Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 70-35 loss at the hands of Van Vleck. While losing is never fun, Hempstead can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1408th, while Van Vleck is ranked 556th).
Van Vleck found their leader in underclassman Tamauri Fields, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Tia Fields, who scored 12 points.
Hempstead's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-16. As for Van Vleck, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.
Hempstead will head out on the road to face off against Danbury at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Danbury has now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 17. As for Van Vleck, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hitchcock at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
