Anderson County has gone a perfect 3-0 against Assumption recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bearcats will be playing at home against the Rockets at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Anderson County sitting on 13 straight victories and Assumption on five.
On Thursday, Anderson County was able to grind out a solid win over Western Hills, taking the game 6-1.
Lacey Osborne made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. Osborne was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Anderson County let Emma Stevens and Bailey Mitchell run wild. Stevens went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Mitchell went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Assumption owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They blew past Mercer County 6-0. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Anderson County, Assumption also got a great game from a two-way player: Lauren Satterly. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Satterly has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Maleya Giddens was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Paige Crain also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Assumption hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive games.
Anderson County pushed their record up to 23-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Assumption, their victory bumped their record up to 25-8.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Anderson County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .373. However, it's not like Assumption struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Anderson County beat Assumption 5-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Bearcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
