After a string of three wins, the New Bern Bears's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 47-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Central. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points New Bern has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why New Bern lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brewer Simmons. Despite the final result, he scored ten points. Jussan Wiggins was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and five assists.
New Bern struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Among those leading the charge was Isaiah Godley, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Da'vius Johnson, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
New Bern's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for South Central, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1.
New Bern's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. As for South Central, they and the Monarchs will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
