Basketball Recap: Liguori Academy Piles Up the Points Against Mesivta

Liguori Academy posted their biggest win since January 3rd on Wednesday. They blew past the Mesivta Mustangs, posting a 77-44 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Liguori Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amir Washington led the charge by going 9 for 18 on his way to 22 points. With that strong performance, Washington is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Rydee Miller was another key player, going 7 for 10 on his way to 16 points.

Despite the loss, Mesivta still got an impressive performance from Nathanel Bitas, who posted 14 points. Those 14 points gave Bitas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Friedman, who put up six points.

Liguori Academy's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-5. As for Mesivta, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2.

Liguori Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-34 loss against Life Center Academy on the 19th. As for Mesivta, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Barrack Hebrew Academy at 2:30 p.m. on December 30th.
