Softball Recap: Spoto Wins Going Away Against Brandon

While Spoto put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Brandon. The Spartans blew past the Eagles 16-0. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Lena Murphy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Spoto got a massive performance out of Chanel Williams, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4. Williams has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Serenity Robles also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Spoto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.

The win got Spoto back to even at 7-7. As for Brandon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Coming up, Spoto will take on Riverview at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brandon, they will face off against Tampa Bay Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 13.7 runs per game this season.
