Aubrey Shaffer was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
In other batting news, Madden Stanek was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophie Janosko, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Connellsville came out on top against Trinity on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Hillers. The victory was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on three straight.
Kendal King spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits.
At the plate, Kaylee Roadman and Cali Leichliter did most of the damage at the plate: Roadman went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Leichliter went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Leichliter has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played.
Thomas Jefferson now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Connellsville, their record is now 10-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Thomas Jefferson hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Connellsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.3 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Thomas Jefferson was able to grind out a solid win over Connellsville in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
