The Osceola Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Land O' Lakes Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Osceola is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Osceola's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Tuesday, when they got past Sunlake's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Seahawks. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Seahawks: they've now won three in a row.
Aliyah Lai spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Bri Shephard was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Osceola was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sunlake only posted a batting average of .259.
Meanwhile, Land O' Lakes earned a 7-3 win over River Ridge on Tuesday.
Land O' Lakes also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Miyah Davis gave up three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Jaila Mitchell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Mariah Thompson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Osceola's record is now 16-6. As for Land O' Lakes, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Osceola has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Land O' Lakes struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Osceola couldn't quite finish off Land O' Lakes when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
