Given Pinewood Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while St. John's Christian Academy is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pinewood Prep was led to victory by Jayden Alexander and Michael Jones. Alexander almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals, while Jones scored 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Alexander has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tripp Eidson, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, St. John's Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Brock Ray, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Pinewood Prep has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. As for St. John's Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-14.
Pinewood Prep's road trip will continue as they head out to face Porter-Gaud at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Pinewood Prep is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season. As for St. John's Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Dorchester Academy at 7:25 p.m. on Friday. St. John's Christian Academy is coming into the matchup with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Dorchester Academy will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
