The Horizon Honors Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 58-49 win over Santa Cruz Valley. That's two games straight that Horizon Honors has won by exactly nine points.
Matthew McEnaney continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds and seven blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Max Gerelick, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Horizon Honors is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horizon Honors will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Tempe Prep at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Tempe Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Santa Cruz Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Sequoia Pathway Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sequoia Pathway Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
