Marcellus and Cazenovia are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Marcellus Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cazenovia Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marcellus will be looking to keep their 12-game home win streak alive.
In what's become a running theme this season, Marcellus gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They blew past Phoenix 70-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Marcellus has posted since December 22, 2023.
Will Burnett continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Will Kershaw was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Cazenovia unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Waverly 76-71. While losing is never fun, Cazenovia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while Waverly is ranked 105th).
Marcellus' victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Cazenovia, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Marcellus strolled past Cazenovia in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 55-36. Will Marcellus repeat their success, or does Cazenovia have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
