Basketball Recap: Freeman Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

Freeman's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Gayville-Volin Raiders, sneaking past 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Flyers have posted since January 2nd.

Vaida Ammann had an outrageously good game as she went 7-for-13 en route to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. What's more, she also posted a 54% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Peyton McCune, who posted 12 points and five assists.

Freeman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Freeman pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 20.8 points. As for Gayville-Volin, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-4.

Coincidentally, Freeman and Gayville-Volin will both be playing Avon the next time they take the court. Freeman will head out to face Avon at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, while Gayville-Volin will head out to face them at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday.
