The Eldon Mustangs had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on New Bloomfield with a sharp 74-50 win on Wednesday.
New Bloomfield's loss came despite strong showings from Brenan Fessler and Nathan Fuhriman. Fessler scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds, while Fuhriman scored 9 points along with 3 steals. Fuhriman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. J.t. Powell was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Eldon's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for New Bloomfield, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Eldon will be playing in front of their home fans against Buffalo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Bloomfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Belle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
