4A Region II District 10 recap Oct. 3, 2012
West Mesquite's Raashaan Reason recorded the longest rushing play in 4A Region II District 10 this season in his game against Creekview last week. Reason's team topped the Mustangs as he sprinted for 92 yards on the play and finished with 214 in all.
Poteet extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Newman Smith, 43-14. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Pirates.
Hunter Herndon provided a threat through the air and on the ground as North Forney bested Terrell. He completed 17 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for 21 yards. Herndon's favorite target this week was Armani Watts, who caught six passes for 151 yards.
Cole Brewer threw for 222 yards and 25 touchdowns. He went 13-24 with one interceptions.
Thanks to the talents of Chason Virgil and Reason West Mesquite has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Virgil leads the league in passing with 882 yards, while Reason has rushed for 332 yards this season. Creekview's Dylan Kittrell leads the league in receiving yards with 229 on 11 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Falcons take on Highland Park. North Forney is currently in fourth, while the Scots are in third.
Kevin Rush's team moved up to 441 from 527 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region II District 10. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of a 40-10 win over the Tigers.
