After each having a week off, the Inderkum Tigers and the Monterey Trail Mustangs will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. Inderkum is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
Inderkum had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 24-point drubbing they dealt Ponderosa on Friday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 37-13 margin over the Bruins. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Bruins are ranked 208th).
Brody Cole was his usual excellent self, throwing for 237 yards and two TDs, while also punching in one score on the ground.
Inderkum didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Raymond Conrad, Robert Minor, and Ceyean Brown picked up one apiece. Xavier Branch was another major factor on D, picking up 0.5 sacks, forcing one fumble, and making nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, while Monterey Trail put up some points on Friday, the same can't be said for Elk Grove. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Thundering Herd with a sharp 20-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Thundering Herd: they've now won four in a row.
Monterey Trail's win came from a few key players Inderkum will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Odie Jefferson, who rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Love, who rushed for 55 yards and one TD.
Monterey Trail was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 183 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
Inderkum's record now sits at 9-1. As for Monterey Trail, their record is now 8-2.
Inderkum came up short against Monterey Trail in their previous meeting back in August, falling 27-22. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
