Even though The Bishop Ireton Cardinals have not done well against the Bishop O'Connell Knights recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Everything went Bishop Ireton's way against Bishop O'Connell as Bishop Ireton made off with a 30-6 victory. The win was familiar territory for Bishop Ireton who now have three in a row.
Leading Bishop Ireton to victory were Aaron Rocke and Omar Diallo. Rocke gained 93 total yards and two touchdowns, while Diallo rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Diallo was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Aiden Gray did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and three extra points.
Bishop Ireton's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Bishop O'Connell, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Bishop Ireton will look to defend their home field on Saturday against St. Mary's Ryken at 12:00 p.m. St. Mary's Ryken is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Bishop O'Connell, they will head out on the road to face off against Paul VI at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
