After flying high against the Old Plank Christian Academy Defenders last Saturday, the Hampden DuBose Academy Lions came back down to earth. Hampden DuBose Academy fell 51-41 to First Academy on Tuesday.
Amari Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for First Academy, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 19 rebounds. Smith has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Bryce Norflee was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds.
Hampden DuBose Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for First Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.
Hampden DuBose Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. First Academy and Meadowbrook Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Meadowbrook Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
