Softball Recap: Bellows Falls Takes Down Ranked Springfield

Bellows Falls faced Springfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Terriers put the hurt on the Cosmos with a sharp 15-5 victory. The Terriers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Bellows Falls let Grace Hayes and Jaelyn Fletcher run wild. Hayes went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Fletcher got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that Hayes has launched this season. Brielle Mulverhill was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

Bellows Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Bellows Falls has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Springfield, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
