The Danbury Hatters fell victim to the Staples Wreckers''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Wreckers, falling 51-0. Danbury has struggled against Staples recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Jake OKeefe threw for 59 yards on four of 15 attempts. John Bardin was his top target, gaining 78 total yards. On the ground, Antony Butler rushed for 54 yards.
Caleb Smith was his usual excellent self, throwing for 308 yards and five touchdowns. Nathan Smith was another key contributor, picking up 131 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Danbury's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Staples, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Danbury will head out on the road to face off against St. Joseph at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Staples, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Trumbull at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
