Hoboken has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Dayton Bulldogs at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
Hoboken's 21-9 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They lost to Ridge at home by a decisive 45-28 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Hoboken can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while Ridge is ranked 23rd).
Meanwhile, Dayton had to endure a seven-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They pulled ahead with a 61-60 photo finish over Cliffside Park. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Dayton has managed all season.
It was another big night for Aden Pecana, who scored 29 points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. Jon Rodrigues was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds.
Hoboken's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Dayton, their win bumped their record up to an identical 1-3.
Everything came up roses for Hoboken against Dayton when the teams last played back in March of 2017 as the squad secured a 77-47 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hoboken since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
