The Springstead Eagles can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 49-14 win over Citrus. Winning may never get old, but Springstead sure is getting used to it with their 13th in a row.
Springstead's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Samantha Suarez led the charge by scoring nine points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Suarez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malanie Francis, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds.
Springstead's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-3. As for Citrus, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springstead will challenge East Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Lake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 297th, while Springstead is ranked 101st). As for Citrus, they will head out on the road to face off against Leesburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leesburg's defense has only allowed 20 points per game this season, so Citrus' offense will have their work cut out for them.
