The AZ Compass Prep Dragons came into Monday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against BASIS - Scottsdale by a score of 56-48 on Monday. The victory was just what AZ Compass Prep needed coming off of a 71-33 loss in their prior contest.
When it comes to explaining why BASIS - Scottsdale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Blake Tropper. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with five steals. Tropper has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. Rishi Dubba was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and four steals.
AZ Compass Prep's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-12. As for BASIS - Scottsdale, they dropped their record down to 4-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
AZ Compass Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. BASIS - Scottsdale won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Sun Devils at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Arizona (ASU Prep is ranked 148th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 170th).
