Westfield can attribute much of their success to Arlen Messier, who had eight digs, and Zachary kukharchuk, who had 13 digs, 12 kills, and three aces. KuKharchuK has been hot for a while, having posted six or more kills the last 13 times he's played.
Meanwhile, West Springfield faced Westfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Terriers came up short against the Bombers, falling 3-0.
While West Springfield ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-21.
Westfield pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for West Springfield, their loss dropped their record down to 15-4.
