Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Howells-Dodge Jaguars walked away with it. They walked away with a 36-28 win over Dundy County-Stratton on Friday. The win was familiar territory for Howells-Dodge who now have five in a row.
Howells-Dodge found their leader in underclassman Hunter Luther, who rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Howells-Dodge's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Oscar Dominguez and his two sacks.
Despite the loss, Dundy County-Stratton still got an impressive performance from Ethan Latta, who rushed for 218 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Latta was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards.
Howells-Dodge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Dundy County-Stratton, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-1.
Howells-Dodge will take on Wynot at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Wynot's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last eight contests. Dundy County-Stratton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
