After three games on the road, Plainview is heading back home. They will take on the Marietta Indians at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Plainview suffered a tough 80-57 loss at the hands of Byng. While losing is never fun, Plainview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Byng is ranked 59th).
Meanwhile, Marietta's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 85-57 loss at the hands of Byng. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marietta in their matchups with Byng: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Marietta saw an underclassman step up: Aedan Ellison scored 38 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ellison has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Luis Garcia, who scored six points.
Plainview dropped their record down to 9-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Marietta, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Plainview against Marietta in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 82-52 win. Does Plainview have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marietta turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
