Basketball Game Preview: Bastrop Rams vs. Richwood Rams

Bastrop is 0-10 against Richwood since January of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Bastrop Rams will host the Richwood Rams at 6:00 p.m. Bastrop knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 matches -- so hopefully Richwood likes a good challenge.

Bastrop will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Carroll, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Bastrop snuck past Carroll with a 62-57 win on Tuesday.

Bastrop's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Antron Mason II led the charge by putting up 17 points and four steals. Mason II is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Devin Tyson was another key player, going 6-for-9 en route to 13 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Richwood came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 84-75 victory over the Panthers. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Panthers are ranked 165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bastrop's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.1 points over those games. As for Richwood, their victory bumped their record up to 17-9.
