The Colonel Crawford Eagles will square off against the Galion Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Colonel Crawford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Colonel Crawford barely beat Plymouth the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles never let the Big Red get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Friday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Big Red recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Peyton Rowlinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Colonel Crawford got a massive performance out of Aubrey Betts, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Olivia Friley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Colonel Crawford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Galion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 13-7 to Clear Fork.
Madelyn Schieber made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kortnie Ganshorn, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Colonel Crawford now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Galion, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Galion's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Colonel Crawford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Galion, though, as they've been averaging only 2.4 strikeouts. Will Colonel Crawford keep running through batters, or will the Tigers buck the trend?
