It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Lakeland Dreadnaughts had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Mitchell at home to the tune of 49-17. Considering Lakeland has won seven contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Despite the loss, Mitchell saw an underclassman step up: Corey Simms rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Lakeland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Mitchell, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Lakeland has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Bartow at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. Bartow comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Mitchell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
