The Discovery Canyon Thunder's's and the Liberty Lancers's contest on Monday was close at halftime, but the Discovery Canyon Thunder turned on the heat in the second half with 36 points. Discovery Canyon blew past Liberty 62-39. The victory was nothing new for Discovery Canyon as they're now sitting on five straight.
Hugh Tarpenning was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Michah Rohacs, who scored 12 points.
Despite the loss, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: Cameron Cunningham scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Cunningham pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Discovery Canyon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Liberty, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-7.
Discovery Canyon will take on Palmer Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Liberty, they will head out on the road to face off against Pine Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pine Creek is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
