The Hemingway Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 53-40 to Carvers Bay. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hemingway in their matchups with the Bears: they've now lost nine in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Hemingway lost, one person who can't be blamed is Romance Hanna. Despite the final result, he scored six points along with five rebounds. Jerel Hampton was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Hemingway were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. This was only their 11th loss (out of 13 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Carvers Bay found their leader in underclassman Jaden Bell, who scored 21 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Bateman, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Hemingway has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season. As for Carvers Bay, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hemingway will take on the Flashes at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Johnsonville is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Carvers Bay, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
