The Monroe Golden Tornadoes entered their tilt with the Savannah Bluejackets with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Monroe put the hurt on Savannah with a sharp 68-44 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for Monroe, who have now won five matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Monroe was led to victory by Lorenzo Still and Justin Burns. Still scored 17 points, while Burns scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. That makes it five consecutive games in which Burns has scored at least 25% of Monroe's points. Chase Dixon was another key contributor, scoring two points along with three steals.
Monroe's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Savannah, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Monroe is on the road again on Friday and play against Thomasville at 8:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Savannah, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Claxton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
