Grafton is a perfect 10-0 against Jamestown since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Clippers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Grafton's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five games, but Wednesday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.
Grafton came up short against York on Friday, falling 10-2.
Grafton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Henley, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Jamestown never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against Denbigh as they made off with a 16-0 win. Considering the Eagles have won four contests by more than 14 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Grace Hughes made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Jamestown got a massive performance out of Zoe Mayes, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Mayes' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Deaver, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI.
Jamestown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denbigh only posted an OBP of .062.
Jamestown pushed their record up to 4-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Grafton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Grafton took their victory against Jamestown when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-2 score. Will the Clippers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
