Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Lincoln Lancers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Thomas Jefferson Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Lincoln focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
Lincoln struggled with assists on Friday (Pueblo Centennial had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lincoln took a 49-34 bruising from Pueblo Centennial. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lincoln has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Adeshina Alassani, who scored five points along with 15 rebounds and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Villarreal, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 67-46 walloping at the hands of George Washington. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Thomas Jefferson has suffered against George Washington since February 5, 2018.
Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Thomas Jefferson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Lincoln was taken down by Thomas Jefferson 74-35 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Lincoln avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
