Covenant Christian Academy is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Covenant Christian Academy Lions duke it out with Hanson Memorial Tigers at 6:00 p.m. They are currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
On Saturday, Covenant Christian Academy made easy work of East Jefferson and carried off an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 17 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Kason Perry was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Hanson Memorial came into Wednesday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Central Lafourche by a score of 7-3 on Wednesday.
Luke Spangler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. Hanson Memorial is 3-1-1 when Spangler allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brennan Thibodaux, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Aiden Sherville, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Covenant Christian Academy's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hanson Memorial, the win got them back to even at 7-7-1.
Covenant Christian Academy took their victory against Hanson Memorial when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1. Will Covenant Christian Academy repeat their success, or does Hanson Memorial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
