Taft has gone 6-1 against Carson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Toreadors will look to defend their home field against the Colts at 10:00 a.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Taft has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Carson will arrive with five straight victories.

Taft fell victim to Chatsworth and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 9-0 to the Chancellors.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carson). Everything went their way against Gardena on Friday as they made off with an 18-1 win. With that victory, the Colts brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Andruw Jacques looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Nate Ruan was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Carson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 2-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Macias, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Carson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.8.

Taft's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Carson, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.

Everything went Taft's way against Carson in their previous matchup back in June of 2021, as Taft made off with a 12-2 victory. Do the Toreadors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Colts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
