Keene Central is 9-1 against Chazy since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Keene Central Beavers will head out on the road to square off against the Chazy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Keene Central has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Chazy will arrive with six straight victories.
On Tuesday, Keene Central took a serious blow against Boquet Valley, falling 55-24. Keene Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-10.
Meanwhile, Chazy put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past Crown Point 51-28. Given Chazy's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Crown Point is ranked 672nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chazy found their leader in underclassman Emma Howell, who scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Howell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly LaPierre, who scored ten points.
Keene Central has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Chazy, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Keene Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Chazy in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 50-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Keene Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
