The Vincent Yellow Jackets will take on the Reeltown Rebels in a tournament on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Vincent has three straight wins, Reeltown has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Vincent got the win against Central of Coosa County by a conclusive 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Ava Reese Waldrop made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.
In other batting news, Vincent got a massive performance out of Natalie Schiller, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Schiller is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Phillips, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Vincent always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Reeltown's offense. They lost 15-0 to Dadeville on Thursday.
Reeltown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kira Chappell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
The victory got Vincent back to even at 6-6. As for Reeltown, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Vincent hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .389. However, it's not like Reeltown struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Vincent was able to grind out a solid win over Reeltown when the teams last played back in March of 2023, winning 6-1. Will the Yellow Jackets repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
