Springfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Liberty Creek on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 8-7. Even though they lost, the Yellow Jackets' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Keegan Fox and Landon Mayo did some serious damage despite the final result: Fox got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Mayo went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was Fox's first of the season.

Springfield now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Liberty Creek, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

While Springfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
