Baseball Recap: Washingtonville Takes a Loss

Washingtonville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 15-5 to the Cornwall Central Dragons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 on Saturday.

Andrew Dempsey and Brennan Tesseyman did some serious damage despite the final result: Dempsey got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Tesseyman went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Tesseyman has become a key player for Washingtonville: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Frank Schiraldi was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Washingtonville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Cornwall Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.
