Basketball Game Preview: Red Bay Tigers vs. Winfield Pirates

The Red Bay Tigers will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Winfield Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Red Bay's tournament run continued when they took on Obion County on Saturday. Red Bay took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Obion County. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Red Bay saw an underclassman step up: freshman Khalil Luster dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 boards. Luster is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games he's played.

Meanwhile, Winfield didn't have too much trouble with Haleyville on Thursday as they won 66-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Winfield pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for Red Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Red Bay skirted past Winfield 61-59 in their previous meeting on December 5th. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Winfield's Slate Gilbert, who went 14 of 29 on his way to 39 points and three steals.
