The biggest upset of the week belonged to Timber Creek, who took down 500th ranked Haltom, 44-21. Taylor Jones threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Jacob Gnacinski and Niron Fields provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Richland. The longest such play in 5A Region I District 4 this season, the connection resulted in 79 yards.
Carroll's dynamic duo of Kenny Hill and Mike Gardiner proved tough for Keller Central to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hill threw for 273 yards and four touchdowns and Gardiner had 138 yards receiving. Ryan Weigel helped Carroll's passing attack out by catching three balls for 71 yards.
Dakota Chavis was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 174 yards on 20 carries as Northwest defeated the Chargers. Draze Lawliss also contributed to the rushing game with 32 yards on the ground.
Gnacinski provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Fossil Ridge beat the Rebels. He completed eight passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for 105 yards. Gnacinski's favorite target this week was Adonis Ramos, who caught three passes for 110 yards.
On the ground, the Falcons' Cedric Dale has rushed for 555 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ramos. The Fossil Ridge star has 30 catches for 425 yards.
A big matchup in 5A Region I District 4 this week will be when Timber Creek takes on Carroll. As it stands, Kevin Golden's team is in fifth, while Hal Wasson's team is in second.
The Panthers were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in the league. Earlier in the week, Fossil Ridge triumphed over Richland 28-21.
